Warp3D Driver Development in Pictures - The W3D_SI Driver
Posted by Hans de Ruiter
The Warp3D driver for Southern Islands GPUs has been in the hands of users for months now, so this blog post is well overdue. I always intended to give you a glimpse into the development process for this driver, and even saved screenshots regularly during the development process. I just never managed to find the time to publish it. So, I've stolen some time out of my schedule to finally get it online.
Developing software involves taking small steps at a time. Gradually features and functionality get added one by one, until the software is ready for release. Developing the Warp3D driver has given me the unique opportunity to show you this process in pictures. In the slideshow, you'll see the driver grow from a skeleton driver that does almost nothing, through to the first driver that was publicly released.
To start your journey through the development process, go to the gallery page, and click on the first screenshot. It'll open a "lightbox," and you'll be able to step through the slideshow. The captions tell the story.

NOTE: Occasionally the gallery page's lightbox doesn't open, and you get redirected to the image file instead. When that happens, reload the gallery page, and try again. Usually the javascript is loaded properly the second time round.
