Hi Hans,
I think I've solved the black screen problem with my hd6570.
The problem was getting worse. I got a black screen 1 out of 7-10 cold boots.
I tried defining the screen modes in the tooltypes of the monitor driver in devs:monitors, but that didn't help.
I was getting desperate, so I removed all the monitor drivers in devs:monitors.
That seemed to do the trick. Out of the last 17 cold boots, I got no more black screens.
I must say that I'm not using a 'true' monitor, but I use a 19" LED TV/monitor.
I never had this problem with my HD4650 though.
Anyway, I'm really happy now.
Thanks again for the radeon HD driver.

I thought I had no more black screen problem, but I was wrong.
To make sure it isn't a monitor problem I now have my Sam connected to a "true" monitor.
Unfortunately I have the same problem with this monitor. 1 out of 7-10 cold boots gives me a black screen.

It is possible that Sam 440ep and SaM460ex Uboot may not initialize some cards in the HD5000 and HD 6000 series properly. I have a 5670 card that works perfectly on my Sam440ep-flex + adapter but gives some problems on my Sam460ex. I have a HD 6770 that will not give any display on the Sam 460ex but will work at 1024x768 or 1440x900 on the Sam440ep-flex.I have reported my findings to Hans and Max at Acube .We have to wait for Acube to verify and fix if possible or wait for a list of cards that work ok with the Sams.Having found this out I am no longer pestering Hans about these issues.

Given the heat generated by the news about Warp3d for drivers Radeon HD 5xxx and 6xxx cards and not for series 4xxx cards it may be time to put up a note of caution regarding Sam machines and Radeon HD 5770,6750 ,6770 and some 6570 cards until Acube can confirm if there is a problem with the these and the current Uboot.

I have added notes to the Sam 4x0 entries on the compatibility list page. I'm a bit uneasy about this as it's still not certain what the root cause it. It could be UBoot problems, but it could also be something else. It could even be the specific cards that were tested. For example, I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 6570 (11191-26-20G) that works perfectly in both my Sam460ex and A1-X1000. However, some batches of this card appear to be bad, and have intermittent black screen on booting problems. Most people with this specific model have one of the good ones though.

@Hans
I understand. Not many other users have tested these models on the Sams (I know of one other person with a Sam440ep-flex plus PCI to PCIe adpater and a radeon 5770 had the same resolution issues as my 6770).But you have seen how people will react if things don't go as they expect. I know alot of things are out of your hands too.The cards all work ok under Windows so I assume that they are good.
